Green Home Electronics

Every month the average local authority has to dispose of tons of used hi-fi and other electronic equipment. Most of this equipment ends up in landfill or being chopped up and the materials being recovered - it's recycling but energy intensive so hardly a truly green solution.

Often times equipment is thrown away when there is nothing wrong with it - maybe the owner has bought an upgrade, the colour no longer matches or maybe a new feature is required. Sometimes the quipment is faulty and traditional repairers require too much money to effect a fix, labour is often the determining factor.

What we at Green Home Electronis do is to put that equipment back to use. Simple.

Our highly skilled Chief Engineer has over 25 years experience in the electronics industry. He will assess each piece as it comes in for viability and will either affect a repair or use the item for spare parts to repair other items. Where it is innapropriate to use used parts we will replace with new, obvious examples are drive belts and CD laser assemblies, we want to be green but we will not compromise quality.

The following photograph was taken at a typical dump at 9 o'clock on a quiet Sunday morning. The two red containers had been emptied on Friday afternoon.

Without recyclers like ourselves this would all end up in landfill or in China where the control of poisonous and hazardous waste is virtually non-existant.

We don't think that's acceptable - do You?
